"Conduct in-person and telephonic pre-trial interviews with various defense attorneys, victims and/or witnesses of alleged
domestic violence or DWI crimes. Observe and assist, when needed, with daily operational Assistant District Attorney (A.D.A.) duties.
The duties may include: precedent research using Lexis Nexis; screening cases, re-filing case paperwork, taking notes during court
proceedings, entering and analyzing monthly metro-court statistics." -DAO intern

"This is an exciting and demanding opportunity for any undergrad that has a genuine desire to gain experience with criminal law procedure and
victims of crime. You must arrive at the office motivated and ready to help; the attorneys and support staff of the office will depend on the
consistent accuracy and quality of your work. If you are excited about observing courtroom proceedings, meeting some of the most dedicated
individuals in law enforcement, and jumping into the nitty-gritty of criminal law’s daily demands, then this internship is the perfect opportunity

Why might this placement be a good fit for me?
"As a Sociology Pre-law major/criminology minor, I chose this internship to gain firsthand experience with the Albuquerque criminal justice
system. Unsure of my future educational and career goals, I felt that the experience I would gain as an intern in the District Attorney’s office
may help with my decision to attend law or graduate school. I knew that interning would give me a real-world look into criminal law – I wanted
to experience more than what a text book could provide. The metro division is the busiest division within the District Attorney’s office; over
1200 DWI cases and roughly 700 Domestic Violence cases pass through the office each month. With a constantly changing staff that includes very
experienced legal secretaries along with over 15 A.D.As there is rarely a dull moment." -DAO intern
