"The Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court has always welcomed volunteer student interns and externs who wish to learn more about the criminal justice system.
The court offers semester-long internships for credit in a number of areas: finance, management and accounting, communications, human resources, probation
and training. Communications and journalism, criminal justice, pre-law, sociology or psychology majors can be placed into positions in various divisions of
the court and will get hands-on experience in the busiest court in the state of New Mexico. The Court is known nationally for its court intervention
programs, especially its successful DWI/drug courts. The Court is also one of most technologically advanced in the southwest." -BCMC site
Past Students' Duties
"Submit bench warrants to the judge, administer drug screenings, enter in case notes for probation officer/client meetings, check the custody list weekly, assist with P.O./client meetings." -BCMC intern
