Department of Corrections, Probation & Parole Division, Region II
"The mission of the Probation/Parole Division is "to provide for public safety through a balance of supervision, enforcement
and the provision of program services to increase the probability of offenders becoming law-abiding citizens." To accomplish this
mission Probation/Parole's mindset requires a dual perspective: the responsibility to enforce the conditions of probation and parole
and to provide services to assist the offender's rehabilitation and reentry into the community." -Probation & Parole site
Past Students' Duties
"My duties range from field calls, to paper work, to administering drug tests, updating files, representing LLPP in court...
and advising upcoming probationers what to expect upon release." -DC intern
What should I know about this placement?
"This is an amazing field especially to study social theories. Time does not allow for me to do a lot of research in that area,
but when you speak with enough people, you can begin to understand the circumstances under which their crimes may have been commited,
and their chances of recidivism. I highly recommend probation and parole as an internship." -DC intern
Why might this placement be a good fit for me?
"I have been working at the Los Lunas Probation and Parole Office. This was not an assignment, per se, as I had started the process
for my internship there long before the semester started. This is where I want to work when I graduate, and so it was a perfect fit for me." -DC intern
