A recent study has shown that access to reading materials is extremely limited for children from low-income families: estimated to be about one book for every 300 children.

Help Cheerios donate 100,000 copies of Eric Carle's The Tiny Seed. YOU can decide where they will be donated by answering questions correctly. The more questions you answer, the more votes you get!

First Book ABQ awards 3 $1,0000 Borders gift certificates
Donations were taken over the holidays at Borders stores to benefit local literacy groups. First Book Alburquerque received applications and distributed three $1,0000 Borders gift certificates to local agencies promoting literacy.
The Storehouse, Los Padilla's Elementary, & East Central Ministries each will receive a $1,0000 Borders gift card.
Every year First Book teams up with Borders to promote literacy and provide first books to new readers.
Recipients will purchase books for new readers at the new Borders Bookstore at Uptown. Nationally First Book Received More Than $830,000 from Borders Group and its Borders and Waldenbooks Customers.
First Book Alburquerque is currently taking donations for a First Book Speed Read event which will take place March 31 in Isleta.
