Philip is the User Support Analyst III for the Teaching and Learning Center on the Campus of the University of New Mexico Valencia.
The Teaching and Learning Center is available from 8am thru 6pm MST Monday thru Thursday and 8am until Noon on Fridays. We are available after hours in case of emergencies and by prior arrangement. At the Teaching and Learning Center we assist faculty in developing sound Teaching techniques and the fundamentals needed for teaching online courses. So whether it is a Syllabus or an Online Grading rubric you need help with please give us a call (505-925-8556). In addition, with Philip being a Microsoft Certified Trainer we can help staff & Faculty update their skills to the newest Microsoft Office platform.
We strive to help faculty learn new techniques in better delivery of content, through the use of proven technologies and improved teaching methodologies. We also study the newest technologies available today in order to keep our faculty knowledgeable of the newest trends in education.
Philip was raised in the Four Corners area of New Mexico and graduated from Aztec high School in Aztec, NM. He served as a Legal Specialist in the US Army which included tours of duty with the 1/21st Infantry and 1/3rd Cavalry. Upon being Honorably Discharged from the Army Philip moved to the Albuquerque, NM to start school. He has lived in the Albuquerque/Valencia County area since 1991. He moved from his home in New Mexico to a small town in the Texas panhandle for about a year and a half after leaving a corporate IT job.
Information Technology ProfessionalPhilip worked as a Corporate field IT technician for a major company for over 8 years. Starting off with Novell Servers and ending up with Windows Server 2000 and Windows XP, Philip has experience in implementing new systems.
Professional PhotographerPhilip is still a Professional Photographer and has had work in national publications related to sporting events. Occasionally he even shoots a wedding or two, though he is much more afraid of mothers than rodeo bulls and bucking horses. He is a founding member and current board member of the Association of Professional Rodeo Photographers Association.
TrainerWhile in Texas he supplemented his income from Professional Photography by being a substitute teacher. Upon returning to his home in New Mexico, Philip went to work for a major computer training company as an IT Trainer. As an IT Trainer Philip taught both Microsoft technical courses, CompTIA courses, Microsoft Office courses and many other things including custom classes.
