About the UNM LiDAR Lab

The UNM Lidar Lab deploys an Optech ILRIS-36D ER Terrestrial Lidar Scanner (TLS) in the investigation of a variety of Earth Science questions. The backpack portable ILRIS is capable of collecting 3D imagery spanning both 360° horizontal and vertical arcs and assigning near IR reflectivity, and RGB color to point cloud data with cm scale accuracy at ranges of over a km. Collaborators include two federally funded research centers and three academic departments at the University of New Mexico, research groups at several other universities and national labs, as well as state and federal agencies. The following pages provide information regarding our activities, Lidar technology, and associated field technology.
