Computational Linguistics at UNM

The Department of Linguistics at the University of New Mexico offers the degrees of M.A. and Ph.D. in Linguistics with an option for an emphasis in Computational Linguistics.

The Department offers courses in the core areas of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics with an emphasis on functional and cognitive theory. The Department also offers a wide range of courses in the interdisciplinary fields of applied linguistics, psycholinguistics, and sociolinguistics. In addition, the Department has a strong program of linguistic study on signed languages.

The graduate program in Linguistics with an emphasis in Computational Linguistics has been planned in conjunction with the Computer Science Department at the University of New Mexico. The program is designed to take advantage of the Linguistics Department’s strengths in functional grammar and sociolinguistics.
