Grapevine twist (Garden Variety)

Found in “Cowboy Dances,” by Lloyd Shaw, in all editions, pp 276-277.

First couple bow and swing

Now grab your lady by her wrist

Out to the right for a grapevine twist

(Through couple two, gent leading his partner, around behind the lady (to the left) and back to the center of the square, then through the couple again, this time around the gent (to the right), and back to the center of the set again)

Circle four, oh, circle four

Now grab your lady by the wrist

It’s on to the next for the grapevine twist

(The same action is followed now by all four (couples one and two) being lead in a line through couple three by man one)

Circle six, just circle six

Now grab your lady by the wrist

It’s on to the last for the grapevine twist

(The same action is again followed by six people (couples one, two, and three) being lead in a line through couple four by man one)
