(1) Do You have to Race to be on the
team?
No, You do not have to
race if you don't want to. You are more then welcome to come
out on our group rides and just have a good time while
meeting some cool people.
(2) Do I need to have experience to
Race?
No, You need no experience
to Race. The NCCA has beginner categories for both men and
women in all disciplines. Also the UNM team will be happy to
help you develop as a young racer.
(3) Do I have to go to all of the
races?
No, However you are
encouraged to attend as many races as possible. Both to help
the team qualify for Nationals, and for the experiences
you'll have.
(4) Are there club dues?
Not at this time.
(5) Does the team have a coach?
Not at this time, However
many riders have trained with Professional coaches and can
provide what they have learned. Also their is coaching
available in the Albuquerque area.
(6) Are scholarships available to
Riders?
No, the University of New
Mexico does not provide athletic scholarships to cyclists.
The Team does hold fund raisers and receives funding from
the school which we try help defray some costs. USA Cycling
also offers a Nationwide Scholarship, but is a very
competitive selection process. For more Information on what

(7) Do I have to be a student at the
University of New Mexico?
If you want to race in
NCCA sanctioned events you must be a full time student
(enrolled in 12 credit hours), It does not matter if you are
an undergraduate or graduate student. However Alumni and New
Mexico residents are welcome to train with the team, and be
a part of the team at non-collegiate events.
(8) When do I get a Team Jersey, and
can I get one if I'm not on the team?
Anybody can purchase a
Jersey. Team members will receive theirs at a discounted
price. There is typically one clothing order a year, and
will be posted on the website. For more information on

(9) How can I get involved with the
Team?
The best way to get
involved with the team is to come to the next team meeting,
or come out to our group rides. To find out when these take

Another way to get
involved is by volunteering at the lobo classic, or by
sponsoring the team.
