Ewa and Tommy Englund are favorite dance teachers in the USA and Sweden. They are known for their clarity of presentation and warmth to participants. Born in Hälsingland, residing in Sandviken, Gästrikland, they have both earned their big silver medals for polska dancing. They have won the Halsinge Hambo Contest four times! And now serve as judges for various dance events. They are the Swedish dance instructors of choice for New Mexico folk dancers and SWIFDI has brought them here exclusively for this dance camp. Over the years the Englands have taught many popular dances always bringing with them a pleasing dance style. They add that extra something to give the dance its essence.
Sandra Wong is a classically trained musician extraordinaire perfecting her art with fiddle music of all genres and the nyckelharpa, a Swedish folk instrument. Her musical exploration leads to a joyful connection with people. www.sandrawongmusic.com
Lee Otterholt
teaching Albanian,
Balkan & Greek Line
Lee Otterholt, originally from Norway, has devoted most of his career to Balkan dance, especially the often-overlooked folk culture of European ethnic minorities. He is a tenured professor of dance and choreography, and was one of the principal choreographers at the Olympic Games opening ceremony in 1994. Lee currently lives in CA, and has become a favorite on the international folk dance scene. While he focuses on dance style, and on dancing well, he never loses sight of the fact that dancing is fun!
