The Lobo Reading Experience is a common reading event held every Fall term with many ways to participate.

From assignments in selected classes to discussion groups open to the university community at large, LRE activities are intended to culminate in a visit by the author with a lecture presentation and book signing.

Each year a book is selected for the Lobo Reading Experience according to the following criteria:

1. Address of social issues relevant to New Mexico and the Southwest;

2. Engagement rather than instruction -- i.e., literature that is read for pleasure by an audience with broad and diverse experiences;

3. Stimulating discussion related to a wide spectrum of academic disciplines such as arts and sciences, architecture, business, engineering, education, fine arts, etc
