Is the LRE book required reading for all UNM freshmen?
NO. The Lobo Reading Experience is recommended reading for incoming freshmen and participation is optional. However, there are lower division classes slated to assign the book as required text.

What is the featured book? How may I get a copy of it?
Fall 2011 we are featuring, The Scalpel and the Silver Bear by Dr. Lori Arviso Alvord. The book is widely available at major bookstores although the UNM bookstore has it specially priced at $12.80. Simply show  your UNM ID to receive the discount. Zimmerman Library and the City of Albuquerque’s library system have a limited number of copies available.

I am not an incoming freshmen, may I participate in LRE?
YES! The Lobo Reading Experience offers activities for others to participate. They include for-credit classes, extra curricular discussion sessions, and other activities. Check our EVENTS link for details.
