Y2k Inventory Update Procedure
You will need:
-Software Update Worksheet
-Inventory Update Worksheet
-Y2k Check disk with Sysinfo.exe
Locate each computer, update information in inventory.
Check location, update if incorrect
Start or reboot computer, note BIOS version.
Check free space, note on worksheet
In DOS, run Chkdsk, or
In Windows, open My Computer, right-click C:\
Run Sysinfo from boot disk; note changes or inaccuracies on worksheet.
CPU: add speed if not included in worksheet info
HD, RAM, O/S
Check software against inventory.
Mirada version
Open PC Pine, look for version number
PC Pine ver. 3.96 indicates Mirada ver. 3.11
PC Pine ver. 3.95 or earlier indicates Mirada ver. 2 or 1.
F-Prot and Command
Look on Taskbar for icon
Blue "F" logo indicates F-Prot Pro
Yellow "C" logo indicates Command AntiVirus
Open Command, version number is under Help, About.
MS Office: Look in Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, look for
Microsoft Office xxx (xxx is version number).
MS Programs: Access, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Word
Will match MS Office version unless they were installed separately.
If they were installed separately, look under Help, About.
Add to inventory: BIOS versions, Software versions.
Get rid of error messages.
For Windows boot message "Computer name or Workgroup name cannot be same as..."
In Control Panel, open Network. Under Identification, change the
information in the appropriate field.
Restart.
Test for Y2k compliance
Restart the computer using the Y2k test disk, allow tests to run.
Note results on Worksheet.
There are Separate fields for RTC, BIOS, and O/S clocks.
