Y2k Software Upgrade Procedure

You will need

Software update worksheets

Diskettes with RighTime and Norton's btestfix.exe

Novell Netware Client CD

MS Office SR-2 CD

1. Cleanup

Search HD for File*.chk and chklist.ms files. Delete these.

Open Control Panel:

In Regional Settings / Date Set Short Date Format to M/D/YYYY.

In Add/Remove Programs remove Old Win 3.x files.

Open Netscape. Empty the Cache. Note version.

Run Scandisk (Standard) and Defrag.

2. Y2k fix

Install Y2k fix files to the Util directory, either Rightime or Norton.
Rightime (Preferred for DOS machines)
1. At DOS prompt, go to a: Note: Install program must run from floppy in a: drive.2. Type "install"
Norton (Preferred for Win95 machines)
1. In Windows, copy BTESTFIX.EXE from a: to C:\Temp. 2. Double click the file to activate it. InstallShield will run. 3. In the Setup Type box, choose CUSTOM. 4. In Select Components check BIOS FIX and SUPPORT 32. 5. In Choose Destination Location change to "C:\UTIL\2000". 6. Take Default settings for the rest of the install. 7. Delete BTESTFIX.EXE from the Temp folder.

3. Install / Upgrade

Anti-Virus
L:\LTD\Win95\Command AV 4.54\setup.exe

Mirada
1. Copy file C:\Mirada95\Vt\Bin\Term.cfg to C:\Temp or some safe location. 2. L:\LTD\Win95\Mirada311\Setup.exe. 3. Restart machine. 4. Remove Mirada95 directory. 5. Recopy Term.cfg to Mirada\Vt\Bin. 6. Rewrite icons to point to appropriate subdirectories.

Netscape
L:\LTD\Win95

For 486, go to Net3gold install ver 3.01

For Pentiums, go to Net4Pro, install ver. 4.07

Microsoft Office
Note which version is present. Service Release 2 will install over Service Release 1, but not over the original. If the original is present, uninstall it and install SR-2. If SR-1 is present, install SR-2 over it.

Netware Client
Upgrade from the Netware CD ROM.

4. Test

Test all installed software by clicking on icons we set up.
