Anderson Schools' to host Hispano MBA Day

The ASM at the University of New Mexico will hold their first Hispano MBA Day, designed to inform Hispanic students and professionals of the advantages of earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The event will be held at the UNM Student Union Building from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 15. The event will include a breakfast, business leader roundtable and information fair.

“Hispanics play an increasingly important role in business, in part because diversity, a broad range of perspectives, and sensitivity to the burgeoning Hispanic-American markets have become vital to US business. Hispanics with MBAs are ideally positioned to take leadership roles in today’s business environment,” said Anderson Schools Dean Chuck Crespy.

The Anderson Schools are a Top Ten Business School for Hispanics according to Hispanic Business Magazine.

Loyola Chastain, graduate program manager at the ASM, points out the added earning potential for MBAs. “MBAs, both at the Anderson Schools and nationally, see an average 167 percent increase in income over their colleagues without MBAs. An MBA is an investment in your future.”

Chastain, who manages admissions for the MBA and Master of Accounting programs at Anderson, continues, “What many people don’t know is that applicants don’t need an undergraduate degree in business to apply for a masters degree in business. The Anderson MBA is designed to work for students with a degree in any academic discipline.”

Guest speakers at Hispano MBA Day include Maria Griego Raby, president, Contract Associates; Carlo Lucero; president, Sparkle Maintenance, Inc.; members of the Baca family, owners, Bueno Foods; and Steve Silva, accountant, Moss Adams + Neff.

The day is co-sponsored by the ASM, the Hispanic Business Student Association, and Bueno Foods.
