Telecommunications schedules system outage on North Campus

Telecommunications has scheduled an eight-hour system outage for the Cancer Research Treatment Center (CRTC) telephone switch that supports much of North Campus including UNMH. The outage will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday, April 8 and is scheduled to end Sunday, April 9, at 5 a.m. During this time, only critical phones will be operational.

The outage is necessary to replace major components in the switch to better handle call volumes and to lay the groundwork for future features and functionality.

The buildings affected by the outage and the critical phones are listed on the Telecommunications Web site at: http://telecom.unm.edu/swupgrade.html. During the outage, callers to 272-xxxx numbers not on the critical list will receive a busy signal and cannot be routed to voicemail.

The Switch Upgrade Project has multiple phases and will continue to affect telephone services across campus over the next several months.
