The University Committee for Public Service and Community Engagement is conducting a campus-wide survey seeking to more formally document its public service and community engagement activities. The survey can be found at: https://esurvey.unm.edu:443/s?s=656&i=32584&k=sPzH&ro=
The survey is designed not only to meet the spirit of the new North Central Accreditation requirements, but also to better assess the scope, variety and magnitude of the various community service activities being conducted across the campuses.
By mapping activities in this critical area, UNM will not only demonstrate what various members and programs in the UNM family are actually doing but further clarify needs and where resources and talents ought to be supported in more concerted ways.
At UNM, the Committee for Public Service and Community Engagement was created in October 2005 in response to a request generated by the Board of Regents to see UNM strengthen and enhance its public service and community outreach activities.
Recent additions to the North Central Accreditation process now require all higher education institutions in this region to document public service and civic oriented activities. Moreover a new national institutional classification system has been launched by the Carnegie Commission to categorize universities and colleges on the basis of their public service activities.
