Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, John Stossel Interview Headline This Week’s “New Mexico in Focus”

This week, KNME-TV’s prime time news magazine, “New Mexico in Focus” explores the issue of post-traumatic stress disorder, what patriotism means, and shows a special interview with ABC News Anchor John Stossel. “New Mexico In Focus” will air on KNME-TV, channel 5, on Friday, July 4 at 7 p.m. and repeat on Sunday, July 6 at 6:30 a.m.

Co-Hosted by David Alire Garcia, Managing Editor with the New Mexico Independent, and Albuquerque Journal columnist Gene Grant, “New Mexico in Focus” takes a multi-layered look at social, political, economic, health, education and arts issues and explores them in-depth, with a critical eye to give them context beyond the "news of the moment."

Alire Garcia sits down with Sergeant Andrew Brandi, USMC, and the author of “The Warrior’s Guide to Insanity: Traumatic Stress and Life,” to discuss post-traumatic stress disorder and how Brandi is trying to make the transition to home life easier for soldiers returning from war.

Then, in honor of Independence Day, co-host Gene Grant and regular panelists Scott Darnell, communications director for the New Mexico Republican Party, and Jim Scarantino, columnist for the Weekly Alibi are joined by guest panelists Sophie Martin, blogger for Duke City Fix, and Heather Brewer, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice New Mexico to take on what patriotism means to them.

And finally, “New Mexico in Focus” will feature a special interview with ABC News Anchor John Stossel, whose “Give Me A Break” segments on 20/20 take a skeptical look at a variety of subjects.

The producers of “New Mexico in Focus”are Kevin McDonald and Kathy Wimmer. Closed Captioning of “New Mexico in Focus” has been made possible by a gift from Mrs. Elspeth G. Bobbs.
