UNM is preparing to host an accreditation evaluation committee from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools Higher Learning Commission on campus April 6-8, 2009.
The committee will evaluate how the university is progressing according to a number of criteria, which include:
* Mission and Integrity
* Preparing for the future
* Student learning and effective teaching
* Acquisition, discovery and application of knowledge
* Engagement and Service
At this time UNM is seeking comments from the public for its evaluation by the Higher Learning Commission regarding its ability to meet the Commission’s Criteria for Accreditation.

The comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs, and must be submitted in writing and signed. They cannot be treated as confidential. All comments must be received by March 6, 2009.
In addition to the normal criterion for evaluation, UNM has chosen to be evaluated on the special emphasis area of minority student achievement. The university’s goal is to achieve equitable access to undergraduate, graduate and professional education across all population groups in the state.
