Pharmacy Students Rank Top 10 in Competition

Fourth-year College of Pharmacy students Kim Neff and Mariam Qozi placed in the top 10 out of 97 pharmacy schools at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) 2008 National Clinical Skills Competition in Orlando, Fla.

Each team of two students was given a patient case to solve and completed a written patient care plan. The top 10 finalists presented their patient care plan orally to a panel of judges and answered questions from the judges.

ASHP is a national professional association that represents pharmacists who practice in hospitals, health maintenance organizations, home care agencies, long-term-care facilities, and other components of health systems.

The program is designed to help members improve their delivery of pharmaceutical care, and it is a national accrediting organization for pharmacy residency and pharmacy technician training programs. In addition, ASHP has a longstanding commitment to pharmacy students, their professional development, and their involvement in the affairs of the Society.
