The UNM Department of Communication & Journalism’s 2009-2010 Colloquium Series continues with Sara McKinnon, visiting professor, presenting, “Geopolitics and Nation-Making: A Transnational Feminist Analysis of U.S. Asylum Policy for Chinese Opposing Population Control,” Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in C&J room 116. A light lunch is sponsored by ComGrads.
McKinnon’s research focuses on questions of subjectivity, agency and belonging within refugee and asylum-seeking communities, utilizing textual analysis, participant observation, interviewing and performance methods.
Her essays appear in the Western Journal of Communication, Text and Performance Quarterly and the Howard Journal of Communications.
