Comadre A Comadre, the educational initiative in the University of New Mexico’s College of Education that provides education, resources and breast health support, will celebrate a Holiday Open House Friday, Dec. 4, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event will provide attendees with information about the services available at Comadre A Comadre.
“The Holiday Open House provides an opportunity for Comadre A Comadre to show everyone what we do at Comadre House,” said Elba Saavedra, program director and assistant professor in the CoE. It will allow us to discuss all the educational information available and to showcase our environment which is designed to help families feel at home with our welcoming atmosphere.”
All are invited to join in the celebration anytime during the open house at Casa Comadre located at 1909 Lomas N.W. in historic Old Town.
The Comadre a Comadre program serves Hispanic/Latina women and their loved ones through advocacy, education, information, resources, and support about breast health and breast cancer. The unique program features Comadres, who are breast cancer survivors trained to access services and lend support from someone who "has been there." Its services are free and provided in both Spanish and English by experienced staff.
