I spend most of my time on my mountain bike or hanging around in the bicycle shop (if you are ever in Albuquerque, check out Two Wheel Drive (243-8443). Of course New Mexico is the spot to be in for mountain biking. This summer me and my girl logged in over 300 mountain miles.
Castilla Pass: Easy ride, but beautiful. Find it about 20 miles north of Questa on Rd 522. You'll need USGS 7.5' Red River Pass, Comanche Point, Carson National Forest. If you need more information on bike rides in and around New Mexico, contact Two Wheel Drive or get a hold of The New Mexico Mountian Bike Guide by Brant Hayenga and Chris Shaw.
Lone Pine: Intermediate level, awesome single track. About 20 minutes east of Albuquerque. You'll need USGS 7.5' Sedillo, Tijeras, Cibola National Forest, Sandia District.
Sandia Peak: Intermediate level, fun and curvacious. Tough climb up or you can pansy out and ride the ski lift up and ride down. Close to Albuquerque--about a thirty minute drive off 14.
Cochiti: Intermediate level, but advanced in spots. By the time you actually get there, it is an hour drive north of Albuquerque. Has both dirt rode and single track. 23 creek crossings. Pack a lunch--it's all da y.
You can also find me at the Superbike races in California, usually Laguna Seca helping at the Rex Marsee Designs booth, specializing in Ducati luggage and apparel. Look in January for their home site and on-line catalogue.
