Motorcycle hobby

Motorcycles are more basic transportation than a hobby but this seemed the
best way to present it.
I have been on two wheels, with & without motors, since 1970 with no serious
accidents to date.
Early on I broad-sided a car that failed to yield at a stop and landed on the
hood without a scratch.
More reciently I was broad-sided by a police car going to a bar fight. They hit
their lights and then me after whipping around a car stopped at the light.
So just because the light is green don't assume you are safe.
Fortunatly the fender caught the BMWs cylinder instead of my ankle and once
again I flew thru the air to land on the hood and watched the bike fall over.
While I put a dent in the car's hood and the city spent $1300 to fix the bike,
I didn't even get a bruse.
All my injuries have been restricted to road rash where I took a corner faster
than I should have.
So if you must push the edge be sure to wear protective gear. Shorts and
sandels don't cut it.
While my helmet has never made contact in an accident, I sure felt more
comfortable knowing I was wearing one.
I put over 100 miles a month on my bicycle commuting between home and work as
well as short errands.
Not a major amount of mileage but it sure beats looking for parking and it just
another of my contributions to the local air quality.
