About
Michael Trujillo
Michael Trujillo is an assistant professor at the University of New Mexico where he holds a joint appointment in the department of American Studies and the Chicano/Hispano/Mexicano Studies program. He is also affiliated with UNM's Anthropology Department.
Michael's book, The Land of Disenchantment: Latina/o Identities and Transformations in Northern New Mexico, was released in February 2010 by the University of New Mexico Press. His previous writings have been published in the journals Aztlán: A Journal of Chicano Studies and Cultural Dynamics.
Michael earned a doctorate (2005) and masters degree (1998) in Anthropology at the University of Texas in Austin. His teaching and research areas include ethnography, critical regionalism, Chicana/o Studies, and the anthropology of illicit drug use. He has received numerous honors and awards including fellowships at the University of Texas, Colorado College, and School of American Research.
