 Taxonomic Classification

The Arthropod Museum follows the Nomina: (http://www.nearctica.com/nomina/nomina.htm) for the taxonomic classification of insects above the generic rank, and Borror, Tripplehorn, and Johnson (An Introduction to the Study of Insects. D. J. Borror, C. A. Tripplehorn, and N. F. Johnson. 1992, 5th edition. Saunders College Publishing) for the taxonomic classification of other non-insect arthropods above the generic rank. The Arthropod Museum classification system, specimen organization, and the specimen database are all updated as new versions of the Nomina and Introduction to the Study of Insects are released.
