Trick or Treating For Books

can volunteer as an individual (commitment of once a week) or a team (each team member rotates each week).

Information about the program and enrollment forms can be found at: The Albuquerque Reads Home Page.
If you have any questions you can contact Pedro Ramos.

Hanging of the Greens

Was December 2, 2005 4:30PM check out the Daily Lobo article.

This holiday tradition at UNM was established in the 1930s when students would drive to the Sandia mountains and gather greenery which they would use to decorate the Student Union Ballroom. Mortar Board began sponsorship in the 1950s and added the farolitos decoration.

The buildings of the University of New Mexico's main campus are outlined with farolitos for the traditional Hanging of the Greens. This annual event is organized by Mortar Board Senior Honor Society as a part of our mission to promote service and community outreach. This festive event includes caroling across the University campus and concludes with the presentation of a holiday wreath to the President and his wife at University House (1901 Roma NE).

All Mortar Board members are required to help with the preparations for the event. Help will be needed for organizing other student groups, folding bags, setting up farolitos, lighting them, and caroling.
