This
assignment is really a great challenge to understand the soil data. I used CEGIS
account for soil data, RGIS website for land use data and couple of features
from previous homework. For this assignment I used couple of new tools from
Arc toolbox (such as: Clip, Merge, Intersect) and
finally produce an atlas for “Pecos Watershed”. First,
I collected soil data from the CEGIS account and added to ARC map. I clipped
the data from all of New Mexico to the Pecos watershed. I joined and related
the soils tables data. To calculate some properties,
I exported several data features in Excel. Land use information was added from the RGIS website. Because the append
function on my computer did not work, I used the Merge function in ArcGIS 9.3 two join the two polygons that cover the Pecos
watershed. I then intersected the output polygon with the clipped soils
information to obtain a single polygon with the soils and LU codes for the
Pecos watershed. |
