Venezuelan actress, Gabriela Spanic, will be the starring lead in the
Mexican's new version of "La Usurpadora". "La Usurpadora",
originally written by Ines Rodena, was produced over twenty years ago
with Marina Baura and Raul Amundaray in the lead roles. Attractive
Gabriela was called by Televisa de México for a screen test which
she managed to pull off quite successfully. A source close to the
artistic going-ons in Mexico called to give us the good news and to inform
us Gabriela created quite a stir in the aztec capital. So much so
that after finishing the screen test, she was applauded by the actors and
technicians present.
The screen test for the Mexican telenovela took place this past Friday.
Gabriela was accompanied by her fiancé, Miguel de
Léon. Both are due back this week to continue with the
preparations for their wedding which will take place the 23rd of this
month in the Guáriqueñan town of Ortiz. The wedding
is scheduled to be broadcast the 25th of this month on
"Sábado Sensacional". After enjoying a few days of their
honeymoon, Gabriela will travel to Mexico to start filming the telenovela.
The story's leading man will be good-looking Fernando Colunga,
well known in our country for his participation in the telenovelas
"María la del Barrio" and "Marimar". He's actually the male
star of "Esmeralda" which is currently airing on RCTV.
About the character Gabriela will play in "La Usurpadora": it's a
double-role, one good, one bad. It's the story of two identical
twins. This new version will be written by Carlos Romero.
