After submitting himself to an endless number of screen tests, Miguel de
León obtained the leading role in the telenovela "Carita de
Ángel", a production of Nicandro Díaz. This will mark
his first stellar opportunity in Mexico. The Venezuelan actor has
resided in Mexico over two years with his wife, Gabriela Spanic.
Miguel de León, surprised and more than anything...
emotional, attended his first set call this week to interpret "Luciano",
a character played by Richardo Blume in "Mundo de Juguete" ("Toy World"),
the first version of the original story by Abel Santacruz. "It's a big challenge because it's a proven drama.
There's a great script, a good adaptation and an immeasurable
production. It has everything going for it to be a repeat
success," commented De León.
The South American actor, however, recognizes being in front of a
double-edged sword because the public will undoubtedly compare his
work with Blume's.
"Other than that, I'm living a dream because
as an actor, one is always in search of better opportunities and I
believe my presence [here] in Mexico is on the right path. This
country is the most important platform in the realm of telenovelas.
It's everyone's dream to be here and to project themselves.
It's, of course, a demonstration of nobleness for the Mexicans to
permit foreign actors to come here and evolve their careers," he
manifested. On a different subject, Miguel de León
denied that "Carita de Ángel" will be his first encounter
[working] with children because he worked a long time alongside Andrea
[Lagunes] in the telenovela "Gotita de Amor" and "I find it very easy [to get along with children] on a
daily basis. I like to interact with children."
Talking about whether it bothers him to be identified by the public as
Gabriela Spanic's husband, he assured us it absolutely doesn't because
"I have never felt it as being a problem;
I've always enjoyed it. As an actor, I've experienced great
moments; and like Gaby, I hope that phase will start to flourish in
Mexico."
Miguel de León has a 20-year-long acting career. The main
portion of that artistic career took place in his native Venezuela where
he participated in 13 telenovelas.
In Mexico, he's worked in several productions: first of all in "La
Usurpadora" as the millionaire "Douglas Maldonado" alongside his wife
Gabriela Spanic and afterwards in "Gotita de Amor" as Andrea Lagunes's
father.
