Venezuelan actor Miguel de León joins the final chapters of the telenovela
"Mariana de la Noche".
After his participation in the telenovela "Alegrijes y Rebujos", De León
returns to a telenovela for adults with a character that promises to create a
lot of strife between "Mariana" and "Ignacio".
"My character is an engineer who enters the telenovela under
the pretext that the mine has to be reactivtated, that it has to be reopened, and
he along with the other workers hired by Mariana, unite to make it function again.
Of course, he's going to be part of the central plot in the telenovela's
romantic triangle."
Remembered for his roles in children's telenovelas, Miguel is clearly happy to
return to another type of melodrama even though he asserts he'll always be
grateful to the productions for children.
"Working with children forces you, by necesity, to be more
creative, more authentic. Children don't have vices. Therefore,
everything about them is natural and that forces you to strive harder in order
to be on a par with them. More than thinking of a child as competition for
me, I've always thought of a child as rejuvenating. They return me to my
beginnings as an actor."
The Caracas native does not feel pressured by this role. On the contrary,
he voices his gratitude with Salvador Mejía, the series' producer.
"In a certain way, it's a return to the telenovelas of the
evening hours. As an actor, I've always felt that my characters were
characters regardless of the time schedule they're in. I'm an actor who works
for a role and not for any particular time slot. This [his part in
"Mariana de la Noche"] is very satisfying for me: to be in this time period,
with Salvador Mejía, with this great cast, in this great production.
I love it."
