Distributed Foundation Wireless MAC (DAFWMAC) was the final product of 802.11 committee’s efforts to come up with a wireless MAC protocol.
Allows distributed access control mechanisms.
Allows central control of access as an optimal feature
Contains 3 layers:
- Physical layer
- Distrbuted coordination function (DCF)
- Point coordination function (PCF)
