Transmission Media
The media of choice today is :
- Category 5 wiring inside buildings.
- Multimode fiber between buildings (total length < 2 km).
- Single mode fiber between buildings if the distance exceeds 2km.
- Leased lines (T1, T3, OC-3 etc) from common services if you do not own right of ways.
- Digital microwave radio ( or other wireless solution ) for difficult to get to places.
