• Check vendor “hot swap” and “downloadable” claims with independent references to ensure high availabiltiy and ease of maintenance.
• Ask for plans for future migration to newer technologies (eg. more ports per card, cards with new functionality etc).
• Ask for bulk, GSA, educational or other applicable discounts (eg rather than acquiring hubs one at a time, try to get a volume discount by saying you will acquire 10 hubs with 500 UTP ethernet ports over the next 18 months).
