UNM has experimented with ATM networks to evaluate their functionality to provide a higher bandwidth backbone with Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities.
An experimental ATM switch connects 4 nodes of a small supercomputer and departments with high bandwidth needs will soon be connected to this switch.
