Active Port Help Page

You've come to the right place for help. I'm going to make this help as simple as I can.

  1. First, somewhere in the back of your computer there should be a "fat" telephone port. (or a "thin" wire with a circular connector)
  2. Second, follow the "fat" telephone wire to the wall. It should be connected into a plate that looks like a telephone jack.
  3. Next, you're going to need to write down all the numbers at the top of the plate.
  4. Now, the last four numbers on the plate the 1243 before the slash are the left port number.
  5. Excellent, the /44 is really 1244. So if you wanted to find out if the right port is active you would enter 1244 in the patch text box.
  6. Almost done. The number between the hash marks is the Wiring Center (wire disturibution room). Put the building number, next a "_" underscore mark, then the Wiring Center. (ex. 153_57)
  7. Finally, point your browser to this link. Enter the patch and building_wiring center and you're good to go!
  8. Note! If one port is active it doesn't mean the other one is!
