DESCRIPTION:
We are recieving calls pertaining to packet loss on outside ^ lines.Drex
suggests we contact ANS.
STATUS:
I ran ping scripts from the four connections on the 350F switch that glues
the WAN AGS, the ANS router, The NGW router and the Cirt BCN router
together and found that they all averaged 30%-40% packet loss- except for
the BCN. I suspected the switch was having problems because it was very
slow when I logged into it. I had Mark from operations reset the switch
but the slow response times returned so I came in and replaced the switch.
This still didn't alleviate the packet loss/slowness. I suspect that we
may be having a problem with some traffic on ANS so I will log a problem
with ANS the first thing in the morning on 5-26-98. This problem may also
be related to NPR# 9261 with the smurf attacks. more to come MAJ
