DESCRIPTION:
HD-SES. Interrupted tape backup of Pod Mac servers across backbone ^ with IP protocol. No problems within subnet, only occurs with remote ^ location. Please contact BRH or SES for more info. STATUS:
Got voice mail from Barbara saying that she has had one backup complete succesefully since the ATM link to the CIRT building network was removed. Will wait to see if they continue to work. 10/19 JL

DESCRIPTION:
He has been having this problem since November, was paged last week ^ and Derek did not get a responce back. He would like to talk with ^ someone in the networking group. He has been having many people drop ^ off the server connections. mjr STATUS:
Cliff and I installed a 350 switch and repatched all the PC's in the lab on 8-5-99. Will monitor the connections when they return on 8-16-99. More to come MAJ : Cliff and I talked to Derek on Friday 8-27-99 and informed him that we replaced the hub with a switch. He said that his MACS were still randomly dropping connections. We explained that the traffic within his classroom was isolated if the MACS were just using the server within that classroom. Our next step is to take a MAC over there and attach it to one of the ports within the classroom and monitor this connection. more to come 8-30-99 MAJ. We installed a MAC and Derek experienced the same symptoms. I informed Derek that he needed to take a look at his NIC card in the server. He changed the NIC on 10-15-99 and I moved all the connections back to the shared hub. We will monitor to see if the NIC replacement resolves the problem. MAJ

DESCRIPTION:
Intermited problems on the Physical Plan since a new switch was ^ installed on the fiber zone 1.~ej STATUS:
Talked to Rick and got some information on which PC's were having problems. I turned on spanning tree to the uplink port on the switch stack. Will monitor. more to come I disabled autonegotiate on the three server ports and this seemed to clear up the problems. I will monitor for a couple days. 9-28-99 I talked with Rick again today 9-30-99 and he said that he didn't have any reports of users dropping sessions or unable to reach their servers. Rick indicated that they are looking into replacing some old NIC cards but the network problems seem to be cleared. I told Rick I'll followup on Monday and leave this report open until then. Had a meeting with Rick, Aaron Baca, and Louella on 10-6-99 and talked about having Rick purchase a couple NIC's. He will replace a NIC in one of his PC's and monitor for any problems. Aaron also talked about setting some parameters on Rick's servers to help the stability of connections to the server. More to come 10-15-99 MAJ

Andy has about 5 computers that do not have a network connection. The ^ blg. # is 303 the south golff course club house. I pinged the router ^ 198.83.252.1 And I did not get a response so I believe that this is ^ the problem. Could you please help him RESOLUTION:
Was able to log into the router at the Golf Course OK. Contacted Andy ^ and had him try it again and everything worked fine, he will re-open ^ the call if the problem re-appears. Closed. JL.
