Welcome to the Alcohol Research Training Program in Neurosciences at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center.  This program is funded by a T32 grant from the National Institutes of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA; www.niaaa.nih.gov).  The objective of this program is to provide exceptional Ph.D. students with multidisciplinary training that will prepare them for a successful future career in alcohol research.  Training will encompass different areas of alcohol neuroscience research, including the neurobiology of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, an important area of research where our institution has developed significant strength.

The program provides tuition, fees, insurance and stipend support up to the levels allowed by NIH-NIAAA.  In addition, students will receive funds for laboratory supplies and for traveling to a scientific conference.  Support will be provided for a maximum of 3 years, after which support will be provided by individual predoctoral fellowships or funds from the mentor’s laboratory.
