Conferences and Workshops

NMCSA, holds an annual Summer Conference with the NM Public Education Department, which allows members to attend various clinics as well as to exchange ideas with peers from throughout the state. Several one-day to two-day seminars and workshops are held each year focusing on specific topics. For information on workshops and conferences please contact nmcsa@unm.edu

Legislative Action

NMSSA staff in cooperation with the Executive Director and Government Relations Consultant of NMCSA represent the interests of local school boards and superintendents in the legislature. We participate in the lawmaking process through the monitoring of bills, providing testimony at hearings and as a source of information for legislators, legislative committees, the Department of Education and other agencies.

Mentoring Programs

Dr. Hugh Prather faciliates our program to mentor and serve newly appointed superintendents with STAMP (Superintendents Transition and Mentoring Program). Additionally we have successfully implemented an Aspiring Superintendents Academy to identity, encourage and prepare administrators for the most challenging and important leadership role. For the powerpoint presentations at the lastest training click here.
