Jobs to be offered for upcoming OCA dig!

The Office of Contract Archeology will be opening several on-call positions of ARCHEOLOGIST (crew chief) and ARCHEOLOGIST CREW MEMBER for several upcoming projects. One is an excavation project along the US Highway 491. Located between Gallup and Shiprock, New Mexico, the project is scheduled to run April 7th through August 7th, 2008. OCA will hire archeologists to excavate nine prehistoric sites. The other projects are an excavation for Alameda School in Albuquerque, possibly starting in April and running through May and excavations at Roswell WETS are scheduled to start in May. Upon the completion of the fieldwork, additional work will be available at the OCA laboratory. This will include processing and/or analyzing excavated artifacts and/or the report write-up.

The hiring process is anticipated to start once the above mentioned positions are posted February 13 on the University of New Mexico’s official job listings website at https://ejobs.unm.edu/jobHome.cfm. We encourage archeologists who are interested in participating to update their resumé and professional references and request transcripts as the hiring process will last until February 27.
