The University of New Mexico (UNM) wants all applicants to know that references checking is an important part of our selection process. In addition to contacting persons you furnished us as references, we may also identify and contact other references. We ask all references a series of questions about your work experiences, education, training, compensation, eligibility for rehire, and job performance.

I hereby authorize UNM to use the information in my application, cover letter and/or résumé and statements made during the job interview in determining my qualifications for employment.

I voluntarily consent to allow UNM or any of its officers, employees or agents to check my references by contacting any person they deem to be an appropriate reference, and to release UNM, its officers, employees or agents from any or all liability for obtaining this information. I understand that these questions may be about my educational background and work experience. Furthermore, I release all my previous employers from any and all liability for providing accurate, job-related information as necessary.

I also attest to the fact that the information contained in my application materials is true and accurate to the best of my knowledge and belief. I understand that falsification or information on my application materials may be grounds for disqualification or dismissal. I also understand that after an official offer of employment is made that I may be required to take a medical examination by a qualified physician at the discretion of the University. I further understand that I may be required to provide official transcripts to verify educational degrees and professional certifications.
