Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences

Lecturer (.50 FTE) in Audiology

 

The Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences, University of New Mexico, has an opening for a Lecturer (.50 FTE) in Audiology. This is a 9-month faculty position with a desired start date of August 15, 2007. Salary is negotiable, based on qualifications and experience.

Job Description

The Lecturer will teach two courses in audiology in an undergraduate speech & hearing sciences curriculum, and will supervise graduate students in speech-language pathology in their audiology practicum. This individual will also participate in other departmental functions, such as recruiting and advising, as determined by the chair.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s, AUD, or PhD degree from an accredited audiology program
  • Professional certification in audiology
  • At least 3 years professional experience since obtaining entry-level degree
  • Eligibility for New Mexico licensure

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Post entry-level degree coursework or other training experience
  • Evidence of potential for/demonstration of excellence in teaching & supervision
  • Demonstrated communication skills & ability to establish excellent working relationships in a collaborative setting.

Environment

The Department of Speech & Hearing Sciences is located in a new building with modern audiological facilities. There are nine UNM faculty and approximately 65 SLP graduate students.
