The University of New MexicoDepartment of HistoryAssistant Professor in Russian HistoryThe Department of History at the University of New Mexico invites applicants for an Assistant Professorship in Russian history. Minimum requirements include: completion of PhD in History by August 2008; ability to teach an undergraduate survey in Western Civilization and upper-division courses that include the whole range of Russian history; ability to mentor both undergraduate and graduate students at the MA and PhD levels; a research agenda with a focus on political, social, economic, or cultural History, in any time period. A sub-field in Central Asia is preferred. This position is probationary leading to a tenure decision.
