Faculty Position Opening in Chemical Biology


We are excited to announce an opening for an Assistant Professor  position in Chemical Biology in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the University of New Mexico to commence as early as January 2008. This is a probationary appointment leading to a tenure decision position.  Candidates having a strong background in biochemistry with research interests in chemical biology are invited to apply. 

Minimum qualifications:  Candidates must have a PhD by the appointment date in chemistry or biochemistry and must have had training in some area of biological chemistry.   Preferred Qualifications:  To be competitive for the position, a candidate must meet the qualifications listed  above, as well as, meeting most or all of the following expectations: potential for excellence in teaching biochemistry at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and strong potential for developing a highly successful research program in chemical biology. 

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is located on the same campus as the University of New Mexico Medical School, and is close to the Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs. Situated in the heart of Albuquerque (population 0.5 million), the University of New Mexico features a beautiful campus that captures the culture of the Southwest. The sunny, dry climate and moderate temperatures coupled with mountainous landscape provides an enchanting environment.
