Procedures for Applying to the Certificate Program

Application Checklist

  • Please contact the faculty advisor responsible for each Certificate Program to obtain further information if necessary.
  • The student will fill out the UNM Non-Degree-Seeking Application form to be found on at the Non-Degree Students page at the UNM Office of Graduate Studies website and submit it to the Records and Registration Dept., so that the student's application may be entered into the UNM Database and enable the student to register for the appropriate class(es). There is a university fee connected with this process.
  • Complete the Certificate Program Plan after consulting the faculty advisor. Sign and date the Plan and e-mail it to the faculty advisor. The faculty advisor will sign the Plan and send a copy to the student and the OLIT program's administrative assistant requesting that a Certificate Program File be opened for the student.
  • The student will enroll in the necessary courses and maintain contact with the advisor to update, confirm or modify the Plan as necessary.
  • The student is responsible for notifying the OLIT Program Office via e-mail of any changes in name, address or telephone numbers.
  • Upon completion of the last semester of coursework, the student will notify the OLIT faculty advisor of the completion of the plan, attaching a copy of the transcripts showing the successful completion of courses in the Plan. The advisor will forward this paperwork to the OLIT Program Coordinator for the issuance of the Certificate.
