All Masters students not taking the Professional Portfolio path will be required to complete a thesis (OLIT 599, 6 credits) based on conducting and writing a research study. The thesis option is intended for students interested in learning about and conducting research. It is suggested that students interested in proceeding on to doctoral studies choose the thesis option. The thesis consists of preparing a research proposal, a proposal hearing, carrying out the research, and a final defense meeting.
The thesis will be judged and evaluated by three (3) faculty members in terms of the student's conceptualization, applied research skills and quality of writing. The final defense of the thesis will include an oral exam which satisfies the Office of Graduate Studies' comprehensive examination requirement.
The "L" stands for "Learning"
