OPST provides an environment where researchers from diverse disciplines and organizations can engage in research, scholarship, and public service. A major goal is to foster collaborations between and among public and private institutions and across disciplines. OPST uses a variety of tools and approaches including:

• Studies, analyses, and assessments
• Curriculum and course development
• Conferences and seminars
• Visiting scholars and associates
• Collaborative research
• Students and interns
• Public survey and outreach
• Multidisciplinary teams

In addition to support from Sandia and the University, the OPST seeks partnerships with other government (state, local, and federal), industrial, and private sponsors.
