Originally from New Orleans, Tenille Cleaves came to UNM to pursue a higher education. During her brief tenure at UNM, she has become actively involved with the Black Graduate and Professional Student Association, The African American Students Services, and with Greek Life. In her current position as Assistant Coordinator for ZEAL (Zest for Excellence in Athletics and Learning) she is able to fulfill her passion of mentoring young athletes who need an extra push to get through college. As a student fellow, she hopes to have the opportunity to help younger students see that they don’t have to be a president or full-time employee to really make a difference in the UNM campus community.
