Assigning and Assessing Writing I: Fundamentals
This session presents some basic concerns on the assigning and assessment of writing, taking the stance that writing is incorporated most successfully into a course when the form of an assignment follows directly from the goals that instructors have for the course. Attendees can expect to leave the session with a basic understanding of the type of assignments, and the type of instructor feedback, that tend to be helpful for students in their development as writers (along the way, we'll also talk about some generalizations that can be made of assignments and feedback that tend not to be beneficial for either students or instructors).
